Cooee R

Cooee R is the first foal by my young stallion, Coolness R. Coolness R is by Chilli Morning who is the only stallion ever to win Badminton with William Fox-Pitt in the saddle. Coolness R is out of a Constable mare. Constable is the 4* stallion that I rode for some time. He is currently being ridden by Cathryn Herbert. With me, Constable had not had a single show jump rail down in three years. You do occasionally get horses like that like Andrew Hoy’s Tokyo Individual Bronze Medal horse, Vassily de Lassos. Conspire R in turn is out of Red Legs R which is a Regardez Moi mare and Red Legs R is also the dam of my current 4* eventing horse, Bronze Boy R.

The Constable mare which is the mother of Coolness R was called Conspire R and I did ride her for a while and right from the start she would not touch a rail. She was very very talented.

Coolness R is just broken in now and being ridden by Tiani Stewart and has wonderful paces, has done just a little bit of free schooling over jumps and looks fantastic with a really sharp technique in front and a back end that opens up over the fences. We have great hopes for him and time will tell.

The mother of Cooee R is a thoroughbred mare called Milchomi who is by Brilliant Invader. Brilliant Invader was the sire of lots of international eventers and show jumpers including Ready Teddy who was ridden by Blythe Tate from New Zealand and who won an individual Olympic Gold Medal as well as an individual Gold Medal at the World Equestrian Games. On the dam side of Milchomi, is Bud which is a mare bred by Bud Hyem. Bud Hyem was the owner and breeder of Kibah Tic Tok who Matt Ryan rode to individual and team Gold Medals at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992. The mare Bud, is by a thoroughbred stallion called Idle John. I rode a horse called Deltry Regality many years ago to 4* eventing level and he was sold to the USA.

Cooee R has fabulous paces and makes us all laugh because she is a specialist eventer however, has paces to round up the straight dressage yearlings which she shares her paddock with. Cooee R is a one off right now in that she is the only foal I have by my young stallion, Coolness R. I expect to have about five mares go in foal to him this year.
