A Message From Heath

Hello everyone,

We here at Ryans are in meltdown with the Auction of the Stars on Sunday the 30th fast approaching. Right this moment we are ironing out final glitches in our online bidding facility which is on the Auction of the Stars website. To do this we have put a silent auction in place starting now with a service fee to each of our 8 stallions with no reserve. This silent auction finalises on Friday the 28th at 6pm. So this means that Regardez Moi who has a service fee of $3,850 may sell for as little as $200!! Regardez Moi has been the Australian Grand Prix Dressage Champion on 3 separate occasions and is right now the sire of Utopian Cardinal who is the current Australian Grand Prix Champion. We don’t mind if you put in a $10 bid. Basically we are just quadruple checking our online bidding system. This system is the brain child of Cathryn Herbert who works here and I think in the Equestrian World it is a first.

Right now the stallion service fees are great buying with the 2017 breeding season about to start. The Young Auction of the Stars Stallions are going gang busters. Wow Wie is just 7 years of age and is already campaigning at Inter A and Inter B level dressage. This is the new level just below Grand Prix. On August the 1st Wow Wie will be 8 years of age and will immediately go Grand Prix with Dimity Lourey. This is Dimity’s first Grand Prix horse that she has produced herself. Very exciting!

Questing R is breaking all records in the lower levels of dressage with a score of 89% to his credit. I have never ridden a horse previously who is capable of this score. He now has two scores over 80% and some 16 scores over 70%. Questing R is just 5 years of age. If he is capable of maintaining these scores up to and including Grand Prix he will be the Australian answer to challenging the rest of the world at the Olympic level.

Wimborne Constable is also on a charge. At the end of last year he won the 1* Three Day Event at Wallaby Hill and immediately moved up to 2*. Three weekends ago at Quirindi Three Day Event Wimborne Constable came 3rd in the 2* Three Day Event and is now qualified for 3* which is the Olympic level. He is flying and clearly on track for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The photo alongside is Constable at the Quirindi Three Day Event (7th-9th July 2017). I came across this T-bar fence at a 45 degree angle at a good gallop. I locked on to a good distance about 5 strides out and had to commit to a very positive approach. The thought did occur to me that I may have been over stepping the mark in expectations of Constable so early in his career. The photo is the exact moment I felt a flood of relief as Constable became airborne and oozed confidence as he dispatched that fence which was number 21. He cruised on to finish the course magnificently.  Heath

Fiji R continues to star at Grand Prix dressage with young rider Bree Tillitzki in the saddle and Desert Storm is already competing at 1* Eventing with Sappho Ransan Elliot in the saddle. Desert Storm is our most photogenic stallion and is not only a jumping machine but he is also getting his head around all of the Grand Prix dressage work. Desert Storm is black and shiny and for some reason he has not enjoyed the high profile that has been afforded our other young stallions.

On this Silent auction with no reserve we are also going to offer a service fee to MSJ Nemo who is not appearing in the Auction itself this time. There are two beautiful mares in foal to MSJ Nemo in the Auction which represent his first progeny to be! MSJ Nemo is our best kept secret. MSJ Nemo is possibly the only stallion in the world to combine the genetics of the Gold and Silver medallist from the Rio de Janeiro Olympics. MSJ Nemo is by Negro who is also the sire of Gold Medallist Valegro. The granddam of MSJ Nemo is a full sister to Don Schufro who in turn is the sire of Silver Medallist Weihegold. Incidentally Weihegold is now considered the number 1 FEI Grand Prix dressage horse in the world.  Nearly no one knows about MSJ Nemo

There are 2 service fees to each stallion which will be Auctioned Live on Sunday the 30th of July 2017. The stallions not to get mentioned above are Byalee Briar and Jive Magic who are both very successful in their own rights.

The Auction itself has unbroken young stock, young ridden horses, broodmares in foal and some of the best bred yearlings in terms of International Genetics. There are 27 horses in all plus 8 Stallions each of which are selling two service fees and the Auction starts at 1pm on Sunday the 30th. Live Streaming starts on Saturday the 29th at 12:20pm and all of these horses can be viewed including master classes (www.australianequinenetwork.com).

Colt material or Olympic material or both!

Lot 1 is Quizzical R who is a young colt by Questing R out of a Jive Magic/Argentille Illkay mare. This colt has movement to blow your socks off and is a beautiful personality.

Possibly the Superstar Lot of the Auction

Lot 2 is a stunning 3 year old Quaterback stallion called HP Quarterlander. Being by Quaterback this makes him a half brother to our super star stallion Questing R. Quarterlander does move, is very quiet and would look perfectly at home in a hack class at the Sydney Royal.

Here comes the Wimborne Constable dynasty...

Lot 6 everyone is holding their breath as we try to assess the Wimborne Constable progeny. They move and are pretty and as you can see with Mallyon Hills Asper they can jump even at 18 months old!! If they are anything like their dad people need to get in quick!

The Top End Connoisseurs Pick

Lot 11 Broodmare of the century!! If you are an eventer the breeding doesn’t get better than this. Burberry R is a half sister to London Olympic Eventer Mystery Whisper (same dam). Burberry R is in foal to the number 1 Eventing Sire in the World Contendro I through frozen semen.

Schoolmaster and Competition Horse

Lot 18 Byalee Bjorn is a 6 year old chestnut gelding who is super quiet, has great breeding and is currently schooling at Medium level dressage.

Ridden Horse Trialling

All the ridden horses being offered in the auction are available for trialling at the venue on the Saturday afternoon and the Sunday morning. Although it can be intimidating to trial horses in this setting we certainly encourage all riders who are interested in any of these horses to endeavor to overcome this feeling and organise a trial. People searching for a horse will often trial multiple horses and you should feel free to trial as many of the horses as you would like. Of course there is also the option of traveling to the vendor's property prior to the auction and organising an independent trial of any of these ridden horses. To further discuss trialling options contact Heath on 0417 656636 or email info@ryanshorses.com.au

Not going to make it to the Auction and want to Bid? We have got you covered!

In addition to our normal phone bidding if you are unable to attend the Auction we now have Live Online Bidding!

For the first time you can bid on any of the lots live online. We believe it is the way of the future. The Live Bidding will enable you to bid in real time on the horses in the catalogue!

Phone bidding and Online Live Bidding eliminates the time and expense involved in travelling to an auction and allows people to go through the auction process in the comfort of their own homes. Many of the purchasers interested in the unbroken youngsters, the broodmares or the stallion services will simply make enquiries in the lead up to the auction and then purchase via phone bidding or online live bidding. Similarly buyers interested in purchasing a ridden horse will often elect to travel to the vendors property and trial the horse prior to the auction and then return home and bid via the phone or online on the auction weekend.

Download the phone bidding form here and if you have any questions regarding phone or online bidding please email us at info@ryanshorses.com.au

This year we expect to sell about 50% of the Auction Catalogue either Online or over the phone.

Live Streaming

More and more people are following our Auctions via the Live Streaming

Live Streaming will start at 12:20pm on Saturday the 29th of July. This is a brilliant way of viewing all of the Lots prior to the Auction the following day Sunday the 30th of July.

Live Streaming is free and can be viewed on www.australianequinenetwork.com.au

Live Streaming on Saturday the 29th will also include the Stallion Masterclasses and usually there is a Quadrille. Last year we did present a Grand Prix Quadrille which may have been a first for Australia.

Viewers who would like to follow up on individual lots viewed on Saturday are encouraged to contact us on info@ryanshorses.com.au or info@auctionofthestars.com. You are also welcome to sms or call Heath on 0417 656 636. Just remember that Heath is on the mic all day Saturday and all day Sunday so he is a little difficult to talk to at this time. Try him never the less.

Sunday again will have Live Streaming starting at 1pm which is the Auction itself. Please keep in mind that there is often a 15 second lag between real time and the Live Streaming feeding through to your computer. No problem for just viewing however from a bidding point of view by the time you see it the lot will be sold. To follow on real time bidding you need to have the Online Bidding up in front of you which you can find on www.auctionofthestars.com.

All of these horses can be viewed with a full write up and breeding on Auction of the Stars (www.auctionofthestars.com) . If you have any questions please get back to me on info@auctionofthestars.com or info@ryanshorses.com.au or contact me direct by sms or call me on 0417 656 636.

Cheers,

Heath
