Starnberg was imported by Pamela Maine at the end of 2009 and is simply an astonishing individual. Pamela has a more than a full-time job in the centre of Sydney and so Starnberg is now stabled here at the Newcastle Equestrian Centre.

Starnberg is the most glorious type with seriously correct conformation. He is a licensed stallion, having passed the Westphalian 30 day test in Germany. Starnberg has a very soft and round way of going. His walk has a deliberate walk march rhythm, which is pretty well so steady that it is unflappable. The trot is simply mesmerising with a wonderful, metronome-like swing and rhythm. He has a natural moment of suspension and is very beautiful with the bend in his knees and hocks. The trot is spectacular. The canter is magically up in front, is very round and very soft. Starnberg has a natural affiliation with collection and although the canter is very bouyant, he is already able to produce a short canter conducive to canter pirouettes and the most collected Grand Prix movements. Already he has the most expressive flying changes ever and Pamela is currently schooling both Starnberg and herself through the tempi-changes. Really beautiful to watch. All the while he is ever so light and steady in the rein contact and naturally maintains a very steady head carriage. Starnberg has been competing since mid-2010 and we are all absolutely delighted with him. Pamela will often times arrive from Sydney straight out of the office at a competition with just 20 minutes to warm up before going into a test. Starnberg copes with this regime like unbelievably. Starnberg does have the most amazing temperament. Sometimes half way through the competition Pamela will be called back to the office in the middle of a Sunday and so off she will go leaving Starnberg half way through a day of competition. People have suggested that maybe it would be better if Rozzie or Heath were to ride the stallion and so maybe give him a bit more of a fair go in competition. Realistically why would you do that, this is Pamela's dream, a beautiful black stallion with a temperament that allows the most bizarre set of circumstances to be fun and rewarding. This stallion could not be replaced with any amount of money and nobody has the right to interfere. Starnberg is a magnificent individual in lots and lots of ways.

Starnberg has already stood two seasons in Germany and we do have a video of his very first foal which is sensational.
