Further Information

  • RIDER - Heath Ryan
  • SOLD - AOS Heatherbrae - Nov 09 to Pamela Maine
  • Has now gone on to win the NSW Preliminary ODE Championship on 16/17 October 2010.
  • Pamela is hoping Aspire will go all the way to the Olympics.

A lovely type of horse with excellent performance breeding to boot. Aspire was broken-in by Gordon Bishop and he is beautifully confident and unspoilt.  His dam The Temptress was an advanced eventer with Kate Chadderton before being retired as a broodmare. Aspire's sire Aspen had elastic movement and enormous jumping ability. This carried him to 2nd place in the 6 yo jumping class at DJWTS and his pedigree features in proven jumping lines all over Australia courtesy of Souvenir and Aachen.

Souvenir has been a major influence on the jumping lines in Australia - his immediate progeny featured Mickey Mouse - ridden by Vicki Roycroft to 10th place at the World Championships Stockholm 1990, and further down the line Peppermint Grove, dual gold Olympic Eventing medallist with Gillian Rolton.

Aachen is one of the most influential stallions to have been used in Australian performance horse breeding. He produced the Internationally successful eventers Aava (WEG 2002 with Stuart Tinney) and then again at the Beijing Olympics competing for Italy, Belcam Aaberdeen (4**** eventer and 2nd at Adelaide International 3DE with Jessica Irvine-Brown) as well as multiple FEI Dressage and World Cup Showjumping horses. Aachen's sire, the legendary Argentinus (dec) is one of the world's greatest sires and has produced Olympic competitors in both Dressage and Showjumping.

Aspire is a very classy eye-catching individual with great paces, a light and soft way of galloping and a jump that is both of technical excellence and inclined to be seriously airborne.
A very serious horse for the future.

Aspire R was sold through the Auction of the Stars (AOS) in November 2009 to Pamela Maine. He spent some 6 months at Centenial Park before returning back to Ryans for ongoing schooling and campaigning. Heath has taken over the reins in terms of schooling and campaigning on the eventing front whilst Pamela will ride Aspire at dressage competitions when time permits. In actual fact Pamela has ridden Aspire at quite a number of dressage competitions since he has been based with Ryans. In October 2010 Aspire won the NSW Preliminary ODE Championships (one of the Preliminary classes) and is showing serious talent.

2011 is not going to be  a big year for Aspire but a consolidating year. We would expect Aspire to be doing Medium level dressage by the end of the year and probably one-star eventing by the end of the year. 2012 should see Aspire start to attract some attention as a promising youngster moving up through the grades. 2013 will see Aspire move into the top classes and start to stake his claim as being a superstar.
